Design Joburg 2018 took place from 25 – 27 May at the Sandton convention centre. Featuring Rooms-On-View, a range of concept stands curated by different designers, each with a theme, colour and room focus, bringing together the very latest in décor and design from the African continent, in a cohesive and considered layout. There were also many branded stands putting their best foot forward in very impressive displays. Entrawood is proud to have been a part of the Expo. Our “brief” was to create a stand which imitates an office, and we rose to the challenge with our own Agile Office concept which incorporates, mobile, height, adjustability, privacy, comfort, and connectivity.
The Entrawood Product design team (from left to right) is made up of Pierre, a mechanical engineer; Nushke, the product and marketing manager, Herman Grobler, a founder and director and Matt, the industrial designer. Together we are shaping the product portfolio for both ENTRAWOOD and ENTRAKOR. Designing with the end user in mind, we are creating furniture pieces that not only serve the user in functionality and comfort but also adds to a beautiful, balanced aesthetic. We have to ensure that our products meet the high level of quality and fast production lead times our customers have come to expect.

For Reception, and comfortable meetings: The Salon curved sofa combines beautifully with the Shell round meeting table and loose chairs to facilitate a team meeting in a stylish and comfortable setting.
For Privacy in Open plan: The Cocoon booth and Pod, by ENTRAKOR®, offers employees the option of doing focused work in a semi-private Cocoon with the freedom to plug-and-play away from their desks. The walls act as “blinkers” to reduce visual distraction, they have a solid interior to dampen external sounds and are padded to absorb the echo/sound.
The Cocoon Pod is a single seater with a tablet that acts as a work surface, but can also be lift up to access the power-set and a storage compartment. The Booth is a 2 seater, and ideal for a one-on-one meeting with a colleague or client, or, when placed face-to-face with a 2nd booth ideal for a team meeting.
For Presentations & Brainstorming: The shell meeting table is made for a collaborative and focussed meeting, offering power reticulation so that plug-and-play happens easily, rounded end allows everyone to comfortable see the monitor screen on the mobile TV stand.
The mobile TV stand which can also be turned around to show the whiteboard on the other side for a brainstorming session.
The Mobile ottoman’s easily slide and don’t hinder movement, they can be pushed aside, in a row against the wall and collected whenever and wherever needed in the office. The Cocoon Ottoman’s are a new product that was launched at Design Joburg they are sturdy, mobile and very handy.
For the engaged employee: A height adjustable shell desk with easy access to power offers users increased mobility, and health benefits, and facilitates mobile technology which has become prevalent in all modern offices.
We had a great response to our products, and it is a great thanks to everyone involved from The design team, to the factory (particularly Entrakor), Nouwens Carpets who assisted us with carpet from their commercial range, Picasso (colour Acrobat) with anti-static properties which beautifully complemented our furniture, as well as everyone who manned the stand! We are very lucky to have such a supportive and positive team!
