48 Hour Office Design Brief – Inscape 2nd Years 2018

Entrawood collaborated with Inscape 2nd year Interior Design students in the planning of a modern agile office. To simulate a real-world scenario, the students only had 48 Hours to complete the project.

A presentation, by Entrawood Product and Marketing Manager, Nushke Grobler, on the evolution of office furniture over time, as well as the latest office trends and how it may be incorporated into the office layout and the mood board, kicked off the brief at each campus.

The 2nd year students were tasked to do the layout and furniture selection for a fast-growing start-up called PayPhone. that would be moving into new premises in 1 months time. They could choose one of three themes to base their styling on. The Company logo and building plan were provided along with Entrawood’s product footprints. Above all, they were required to use Entrawood’s furniture as much as possible whilst expressing the theme and company culture. There 3 themes were:

  • Loud & Proud
  • An urban sanctuary
  • Redefined luxury

48 hours is very tight for an introduction to corporate layouts and the pressure was intense, but there were a few notable projects that demonstrated an understanding and application of office furniture as well as the flow of people and information through the office space!

Here are some of our favourite projects:

Here are samples of some of the other finalist projects from all the Inscape campuses:

From Pretoria Campus: Annelie de Bruin, Willie Badenhorst, Kelly Cousins, Chelsea Botha and Elana Froneman. From Durban Campus: Yuvica Naidoo. From Cape Town Campus: Danielle Niehaus, Micaela Canazzo, Janneke van Osc, Jaimey Jeniker. And from Midrand Campus: Nicki Fourie, Robin Harris and Michaela Lee Nyce.

From Entrawood’s side, thank you very much to Carsten Walton, Faculty Dean of Built Environment and Leigh Krueger, Undergraduate Academic Manager for the opportunity and time to do this project with the students, it is one of the highlights in our year! And thoroughly enjoy engaging with the students and seeing what they come up with!
